Resumen

Impulsada por el proceso de envejecimiento que se está produciendo en la Comunidad Autónoma Vasca, la iniciativa Ciudades y Comunidades Amigables con las Personas Mayores se ha convertido en un referente político de primer orden para el desarrollo de políticas de envejecimiento en el territorio. Este artículo aborda este tema a través de un estudio cualitativo que analiza cómo las tres capitales de la comunidad autónoma están implementando estrategias favorables a las personas mayores, centrándose en los procesos de cocreación y coproducción. El artículo examina los retos a los que se enfrentan actualmente en el desarrollo de los mencionados procesos participativos. Nuestra investigación sugiere que la implicación política, aunque sea necesaria, carece de sentido si la estrategia no se integra en el trabajo de las partes interesadas más importantes. Además, el éxito de las comunidades a la hora de hacerse más respetuosas con las personas mayores dependerá, en gran medida, de si las personas mayores, incluidas las que se enfrentan a la exclusión social, se implican como actores clave en la investigación y las políticas futuras en torno a los desarrollos respetuosos con las personas mayores.
