Doctor by the Universidad de Zaragoza with the thesis Cinética de desactivación de los catalizadores sólidos. Teoría general, métodos de análisis de datos y comprobación experimental en procesos de deshidratación deshidrogenación y oxidación 1978. Supervised by Dr. José Corella Tudanca.

Education He earned his BS in Chemistry and MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bilbao and the PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Zaragoza (catalyst deactivation). He did postdoctoral research at the University of Liege (Belgium) working on hydrodynamics of Trickle Bed Reactors. Honors and awards He received the Rhone-Poulenc Award for Clean Technologies for his research in control of polymerization reactors and the Euskadi Research Award. Award to the Invention and Research in Applied Chemistry “Professor Martínez Moreno” from the University of Sevilla and the García-Cabrerizo foundation, 2015. Research His research has been focussed on the fundamental investigation of industrially important polymerization processes developing knowledge-based strategies for the production of high performance waterborne dispersed polymers. His lab is recognized as Key Center by both the University of the Basque Country and the Basque Government, and has hosted a Marie Curie Training Centre for High Performance Dispersed Polymers. PhD students and Post-doctoral fellows from the entire world have worked in his lab.
