The Nano Bio Separations Group is a transdisciplinary team that creates barriers for separations, sensing and catalysis by combining synthetic membranes and biomolecules in aqueous or non-conventional liquid environments. The apparent aim is to develop stimuli-responsive, highly-selective and versatile interfaces; our underlying driving force is to understand molecular interactions and ultimately the concept of selectivity. For this purpose, we refine monitoring techniques that elucidate interaction phenomena at the solid-liquid interface which determines the selectivity of a process. Our current research topics comprise: /n Oligonucleic acid-functionalized stimuli-responsive membranes /n Biomolecules in non-conventional liquids /n DNA-membrane reactor /n Early-stage membrane fouling detection
