Abstract
Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is a type of partial epilepsy which is often resistant to anti-epilepticdrugs. In TLE, unconventional neuronal activity takes place in the hippocampus, among other brainareas. TLE patients frequently show memory disorders. Moreover, they usually present alterations inthe endocannabinoid (eCB) system, such as a reduction in the expression of the CB1 receptor. It hasbeen shown that the eCB system, and specially the CB1 receptor, participates in memory processes.Furthermore, CB1 receptors could be directly connected with the severity of the epileptic seizures. Ouraim is to study the behavioural and the cellular changes that occur in an animal model of TLE,focusing on the CB1 receptor.
