Abstract

This article investigates the field of study that is intuited in the tension that have led to its reason for being as urbanism, architecture and monuments. Aspects very present in the aesthetic-spatial plastic that are outlined as interstices or vertices in the effort to focus and narrow the subject of the city subject to multiple frictions, from the geographical to the socio-anthropological through art, thus being witnesses direct and eloquent events coined in sedimentary ‘archival documents’ that transform socio-cultural plans of designated places, such as milestones of references and accumulations of memories. The field observation work in cities such as Bilbao and Berlin provides the conceptual key to an analysis methodology that has subsequently focused on concrete examples, proposing guidelines for the purpose of reflecting on the emergence of characteristically contemporary visual codes; which seek re-contextualizing forms of evolution and the transformations produced over time. From the hypothetical metaphor of the ‘stacked files’ that, as an imaginary and heritage, underlie the identities of the territory lived and inhabited.
