Resumen

The evolution of 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies has brought about a dramatic rise in the connectivity demands since the last decade. The convergence of wireless and optical technology can play a significant role to tackle the problem of massive connectivity efficiently. In this paper, we have established a Radio-Over-Plastic Optical Fiber (RoPOF) link and experimentally analyzed the downlink transmission performance of different bandwidth standards of LTE in conjunction with NB-IoT within the LTE guardband. Transmission through a 75-meter PMMA GI-POF was successfully achieved as the EVM measurements demonstrate, which makes our proposal a spectral efficient solution for the future short range communication networks.
