Abstract

This paper is framed within the Computing Education Research (CER) area. In the study made, the speci c topic analyzed is the education process of the computer input/output (I/O) subsystem. The main models used in the education process of the aimed topic, the introduction of Project Based Learning (PBL), the renovation of the technology used to teach/learn about a speci c technology, the exams used to evaluate the students' knowledge and the students' understanding of the topic at the end of the process have been analyzed during the research made. This is one of the few studies in the CER area that treats the computer I/O subsystem inside the Computer Architecture area. Anyway, despite its speci city, this research could be replicated in any other topic, even out of the Computing discipline.
