Estudios de estacionalidad en yacimientos paleolíticos del Cantábrico central

Abstract

Seasonality studies try to establish the time of year and the duration in time in which the occupation of a site by hunter-gatherer groups took place. This field of zooarchaeology has been implemented in the Iberian Peninsula since the mid-20th century. However, at present, seasonality studies still suffer from certain biases that have not been adequately resolved and hinder the interpretation of the results obtained in these studies. Most of these biases are a consequence of the inherent limitations of each one of the techniques. From the wide variety that exist, the four techniques considered most robust in this thesis are Dental Eruption and Wear (EDD), Microwear, Stable Isotope Analysis and Cementochronology. Precisely, these biases are also present in most of the seasonal studies that precede this thesis.
