Abstract

In the framework of the RENATUR project (Interreg Europe Program), examples of policy instruments and best practices related to the protection of natural heritage in Periurban Open Spaces (PUOS) have been identified, analyzed and transferred. The ultimate objectives are to PROTECT ecosystems and their services, CONSERVE biodiversity and REDUCE its loss, AVOID fragmentation of ecosystems and IMPROVE their connection, REDUCE soil imperviousness. This paper presents the methodology followed in the project and the plans developed in the different countries with the aim of modifying the Political Instruments for the protection of PUOS.
