Abstract
This work presents some of the recent findings on the archaeal taxonomy in the rumen, how the distribution of groups relates to methanogenesis and to what extent this is linked to the response to different anti-methanogenic strategies. The combination of gene expression and microbial taxonomy studies appears essential to identify biomarkers or key microbial groups that relate to low methane emissions.
