Resumen
This paper presents a group of cognitive computational experiences carried out in classrooms ofthe University of the Basque Country. The experiences were designed to guarantee that the studentswould learn the content of a set of topics in the areas of education and engineering by using thecomputational capabilities already present in the human brain. These capabilities are, in general, different from those used in traditional teaching and learning environments. The human brain developslarge sets of cognitive processes to manipulate information without any formal education. We call theseprocesses Evolutionary Cognitive Processes. The methodology is based on using primarily the brain’ssystem1 and on offering students a computational model for solving problems through isomorphictasks. Four experiences were carried out with students of the degree courses in Primary Education, and master’s degree in Engineering of Control, Automation and Robotics. The methodology of theexperiences is based on the creation and use of a Virtual Machine. The first data indicate good resultsfor students. The paper shares the results and conclusions of these experiences with the academiccommunity in the area of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
