Abstract

The anthropological study of the human remains exhumed from the Sepulchre of the Abbot Diego de !rusta along with historical information enabled us the approaching to a human group that had a great influence on the social and economical life of the Basque Country. Through severa! evidences, the three monks buried in the sepulchre, have been identified as members of the Irusta familiy. Moreover a biological distance between the three individuals has been inferred from sorne skeletal measurements. Sorne information on the lifestyle of the religious Community has been inferred from the osteoarticular lesions registered on the skeletons.
