Abstract
During the last years we have witnessed a proliferation of national, regional and local initiatives oriented towards the implementation of policies inspired in a systemic approach to innovation. In this sense, the present paper aims at providing a general view of the state of innovation in Spain. The analysis has been based on the study of a set of indicators in national, regional and sectoral spheres. As a result, the paper emphasizes the main lacks and weaknesses of the national economy as regards innovation
