Abstract

This paper proposes a new meaning of competitiveness that goes beyond the economic rationale to incorporate the inclusive and sustainable well-being of territories as an ultimate goal. Under this new perspective, competitiveness is a systemic and dynamic process built collaboratively between all the stakeholders involved in a territory, which, without being able to ignore the major global trends, is of a contextual nature. Thus, this paper does not offer recipes but frameworks that can help businesses, public administrations and universities to reflect on their own role in achieving competitiveness to serve inclusive and sustainable well-being. The starting point is the university, which promotes dialogue processes with stakeholders in its own territory; a co-transforming university, which also transforms itself when it transforms.
