Resumen

Neurodevelopmental vulnerability of extrem preterms is described in the scientific literature, but to date no description has been made in our geographical territory. Given that children´s difficulties and needs change in each developmental stage, the aim of this work is to conduct a neuropsychological follow-up of extrem preterms. A sample of 23 children was assessed at 2 years old with the Bayley-III for psychomotor development assessment, and at 6 years old using tools to assess intelligence (WISC-V), and different cognitive domains and socioemotional symptoms. Although at 2 years old difficulties were shown in specific domains (expressive language and gross motricity), a slightly reduced IQ and difficulties in sustained attention, executive function and verbal comprehension were observed at school age. No socioemotional difficulties were found. The results show the vulnerability of extrem preterms and the need to monitor this population at least until school age. This research reveals the work to be done on the validity of neuropsychological tools in our territory.
