Abstract

Throughout the following lines we aim to analyze Puerto Rican author’s novelSpiks(1956) as a testimony of Caribbean migrants’ subaltern experiencies in New York City circa 1950s. Thus, the analysis focuses on the historical context of the writingso that the purpose of the novel to testifiy Puerto Ricans’ isolation in the United States may be highlighted, which might lead us to attest the value of his piece of art as testimonial literature.
