Abstract

Between 2004 and 2018, and within a programme of census of amphibians in protectedareas of the Basque Country and Navarre, the populations of amphibians present in theNatural Park of Urbasa and Andía Mountains (8 years) and the Special Areas of Conserva-tion of Mount Aralar (3 years) and Roncesvalles-Selva de Irati (7 years) (Navarre) were quan-tified. Using the same methodology, shared with other spaces in the immediate vicinityand repeatedly applied in selected wetlands during the different sampling periods, thetrend followed by the populations was analysed. Their stability was high, especially inMount Aralar and in Roncesvalles-Selva de Irati. The most abundant adult populationswere those of Lissotriton helveticus(Razoumowsky, 1789) in the three mountain rangesand Calotriton asper(Dugès, 1852) in Roncesvalles-Selva de Irati. The more abundant larvalpopulation in this area was Bufo spinosusDaudin, 1803, and Alytes obstetricans(Laurenti,1768) in the mountain ranges.
