Abstract

In 2015, the year of the centenary of Moseley’s death commemoration, the Inorganic Chemistry Division of the IUPAC presented the rules for naming new chemical elements and the IUPAC announced the official ratification of the discovery of four new chemical elements with atomic numbers 113, 115, 117, and 118. Thus the seventh period of the periodic table is completed. Their discoverers from United States, Japan and Russia have been invited to suggest permanent names and symbols. It is an excellent opportunity for one or more of these groups to perpetuate Moseley’s name through a chemical element, as mendelevium immortalizes Mendeleev.
