La mercantilización del bienestar y el reforzamiento del Estado disciplinario

Resumen

La globalización y la necesidad de repensar un Estado de bienestar que funcionaba alrededor de términos obsoletos han forzado la adaptación de su personalidad en torno a un eje definido por la mercantilización, que defiende el constreñimiento de la asunción pública del bienestar de la ciudadanía. A su vez, el déficit de legitimación que bordea debido al abandono de varios ámbitos de protección, unido a la crisis económica sobrevenida, ayuda a que el recurso de la oferta de protección como cobertura de seguridad alejada de los criterios desmercantilizadores sea una opción a tener en cuenta por parte de los Estados, reforzando sus aspectos disciplinarios. Este trabajo repasa los hitos más importantes dentro de este proceso y ofrece elementos a considerar en relación a la importancia que podría tener este otro concepto de seguridad dentro de la configuración de los Estados en la actualidad.
