"Burnout" profesional¿Un problema nuevo?: Reflexiones sobre el concepto y su evaluación

Resumen

En torno al concepto de burnout se ha generado en los últimos años un importante volumen de investigaciones que, lejos de acotarlo como un cuadro diagnóstico propio de las profesiones dirigidas a la asistencia, ha sido asimilado como un mero sinónimo del estrés laboral. Esta devaluación del término, por un lado, le ha restado eficacia como descriptor de un síndrome específico y, por otro, ha propiciado una gran dispersión de estrategias y métodos para ser evaluado. A partir de estas consideraciones, este estudio pretende ofrecer por una parte, una exhaustiva descripción del concepto desde su acepción original, y por otra, una relación de los métodos es instrumentos de evaluación para aquellos que estén interesados en su dimensión diagnóstica.
