Abstract

During the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), when Europe suffered extreme climatic conditions, the hunter-gatherer groups that inhabited Europe retreated to glacial refuges in southern Europe, being the Franco-Cantabrian refuge of the Pyrenees one of them. At the end of this glacial period, the human groups re-expanded towards the rest of the European continent. In the present study, we present the genomic data of the Mesolithic woman from Aizpea site (Aribe, Navarre), in order to know the genetic composition of the descendants of those hunter-gatherers who lived in glacial refuges.
