Abstract

The digitization of the markets has favored the emergence of companies with great potential worldwide, who have been expanding their position of dominance from one market to another. They control our data about our consumption preferences, and about our personal characteristics too. This supposes a potential risk that these companies control or interfere in the life and freedom of citizens more than the States themselves. Such reality has reopened the debate on the purpose of competition law and on what should be understood by efficiency and consumer protection.
