Abstract

Our paper sets out the theoretical approach used to analyze the wide range of economic activities and be-haviors performed by actors and agents linked to risk and adventure sports. Applying the perspective de-veloped by Zelizer (2015) within the economic sociology, the hypothesis we propose is that the economic ac-tors involved in this field guide their activities of production, consump-tion, distribution and transfer of eco-nomic assets based on the experienc-es and shared social representations of risk and adventure, as well as dense interpersonal relationships de-rived from their participation and linkage to such sports. Analytical tools of economic sociology lead us towards a specific research agenda enriching prior analysis about the emergence of a risk and adventure sports industry, the consumption pat-terns or the forces of commercializa-tion, while allow us to face barely studied dimensions so far, such as trade circuits, innovative and creative dynamics and business and work ethics.
