Abstract

Since 2000, Aranzadi Society of Sciences has contributed and actively participated in the technical development of numerous research projects related to the Historical Memory of the 1936-1939 Civil War and Francoism, promoted by different social and institutional agents, as well as in the advice of many others. These analyzes range from the exhumations of mass graves, to the historical investigation of what happened, as well as commemorative acts and outreach activities. Therefore, archeology, in perfect harmony with these other disciplines or procedures, such as history, the collection of oral testimonies, anthropology and genetics continues to have a very important role in the recovery processes of forgetting such a vital period of time of our recent history. A clear example is the exhumation and analysis of the remains recovered in a mass grave in June 2010 in the port of La Tejera, in the town of Ribera Alta in Alava.
