Abstract
Numerous phenomena of science and engineering are modelled mathematically using systems of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). They are used to study the vibrations in bridges or the dynamica response of buildings to earthquakes. The analytical solution of PDEs in a general domain is not possible and it is necessary the use of numerical methods, among which the Finite Element Method (FEM) stands out.
