Abstract

Based on demographic and sample data of pre-university education schools in the Basque Country, this paper attempts to respond to some of the key questions concerning management and academicians with regard to the beneficial results, the universal application of the EFQM model in the field of primary and secondary education and its relationship with the satisfaction of employees, students and parents. The findings from this study show that the degree of application of the EFQM model is relatively high during three years and its acceptance by the most advanced schools appears to ensure its validity. However, our investigation also indicate that it is not equally appropriate for all types of schools and that, among the educational organisations that have adopted the system, the level of successful implementation differs depending on the characteristics and conditions of the school. This means that care must be taken not to automatically and exclusively identify a school�s EFQM score with the quality of its teaching and management. Finally, our research results show that there is a positive correlation between the use of EFQM and the satisfaction of the agents involved, with the most significant improvement corresponding to education schools with initially lower satisfaction levels.
