Abstract

In this work, the order Cantharellales, as circumscribed in the 8th Dictionary of Fungi, is monographed in the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, based on the morphological study of 2284 specimens. Due to the problems of species delimitation, complementarily, phylogenetic analyses of the ITS region have been carried out in the genus Clavulina. The nomenclatural and taxonomical revision included a critical review of 539 protologues, as well as the examination of 65 type specimens. As a result of this work, 101 species of Cantharellales are reported in the territory, of which detailed descriptions, and artwork are provided, together with keys for species identification. Twenty two species are cited for the first time in the Iberian Peninsula, 10 species new to science are described and 10 new names are proposed. Likewise, a compilation of published chorological reports has been made, contributing to the knowledge of the distribution of Cantharellales species in the territory. The order Cantharellales shows a higher diversity than expected in the territory, and the political districts located in the Eurosiberian-Mediterranean biogeographic boundary seem to have the highest species richness.
