Abstract
Hygronitrophilous plant communities dominated by the forbs Epilobium hirsutum and Mentha longifolia growing on nitrified river banks in the Iberian Peninsula were studied. After analysing field data together with bibliographic ones four different associations are distinguished: I) Scrophulario lyratae-Epilobietum hirsuti in the central-southern areas, with the new subassociation oenanthetosum crocatae in the Central Range; II) Cirsio ferocis-Epilobietum hirsuti in the Levantine territories; III) Artemisio vulgaris-Epilobietum hirsuti in the eastern Pyrenees; and IV) the new association Solano dulcamarae-Epilobietum hirsuti, with two subassociations,...
