Laburpena

After the recent detection of Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1894) in Southwestern France, the entomological surveillance in the Basque Country, since 2013, has found two positive traps in Irun (Guipuzkoa). The differences in environmental conditions, which could influence its establishment, between this area and the Spanish Levante populations are discussed. Also, this is the first record of Culex hortensis Ficalbi, 1889 and Culiseta longiareolata (Macquart, 1838) for the Basque Country and the Guipuzkoa province. Also it is the first record of Cx. pipiens Linnaeus, 1758 for the Guipuzkoa province.
