Cáncer de mama en el bazar de TikTok. Testimonios versus charlatanería

Abstract

Um diagnóstico de câncer de mama é traumático, especialmente quando o prognóstico não é favorável. Por isso, não é surpreendente que pessoas lidando com a doença recorram a plataformas de mídia social como o TikTok para procurar informações sobre todos os aspectos da sua condição. Através do software Zees-chuimer, foram capturados vídeos do TikTok entre outubro de 2022 e 2023 com a palavra-chave câncer de mama com o objetivo de analisar o conteúdo, determinar os perfis das pessoas que publicam sobre este carcinoma e identificar os tópicos mais recorrentes. Essas publicações foram organizadas seguindo o critério do maior engajamento e foram estudadas as de maior pontuação, totalizando 270, levando em consideração aspectos como o papel do protagonista, sua idade, estado emocional o tipo de conteúdo publicado. Os resultados mostram que 60% das publicações apresentam mulheres entre 25 e 40 anos que enfrentam a doença sozinhas (34%). Somente em 11% dos casos aparecem mulheres que superaram essa condição. Para as mulheres afetadas, o TikTok torna-se uma plataforma onde podem expor-se física e emocionalmente a um público cujo juízo é confiável, estabelecendo-as como vozes credíveis no assunto. No entanto, em 23,1% dos casos, essa rede também é uma tribuna para usuários que adotam um tom alarmista sobre a doença e, por vezes, contradizem as recomendações sobre o câncer de mama de organizações como a OMS ou a Associação Espanhola Contra o Câncer (AECC).
