Zusammenfassung

The supplementation in laying hens diets of dry powder whey (6%, 6L0P), P. acidilactici (0.2%, 0L0.2P), dry powder whey/P. acidilactici mix (6L0.2P) and control diet (0L0P) were evaluated. The feed intake, feed conversion ratio, laying index, yolk index, eggshape index, shell thickness, Haugh unites and caecal count of Bifidobacterium spp. Lactobacillus spp. C. perfringens and E. coli were determined. An increase in the LI was achieved by 6L0P or 0L0.2P in comparison with the 0L0P; no differences were found in this parameter among 6L0.2P and any of the others treatments. Bifidobacterium spp. was increased and C. perfringens was reduced by 6L0P supplementation in comparison to 0L0P. A tendency to increase Lactobacillus spp. and to decrease C. perfringens was observed by 0L0.2P supplementation in comparison to 0L0P. However, no differences were found in the microbial counts between 6L0.2P and any of the other treatments. In conclusion, feeding either 6% of dry powder whey or 0.2% of P. acidilactici increased the LI and exerted a beneficial effect on the composition of the caecal microbiota, without affecting the quality features of the eggs. The joint utilisation of dry powder whey and P. acidilactici, however, did not affect the productive performance or caecal microbiota.
