Résumé
Oligodendrogenesis is an essential process for the formation and maintenance of axonal myelin and, consequently, for correct nerve transmission in the central nervoussystem (CNS). Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating disease of the CNS characterizedby oligodendrocytes (OL) cell death, demyelination and axonal damage, presenting a progressive, recurrent and neurodegenerative character. Remyelination is the process by which myelin of demyelinated axons is restored spontaneously, recovering the saltatory transmission of the nerve impulse. In MS there is a deficit in the remyelination process, which is believed to be due to an insufficiency in the differentiation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPC) and, therefore, in the regeneration of myelinating OL. Therefore, the search for molecules that favor oligodendrogenesis during CNS myelination and, more importantly, in situations of demyelination, is one of the current challenges of research for the treatment of demyelinated disorders that currently have no cure...
