Resumo
The inclusion of agroindustrial by-products in ruminants´ diet represents an alternative to reduce reduced production costs and the environmental impact. However, feeding non-convencional feeds may cause malnutrition or toxicity, and consequently affect animal welfare. The aim of this work was to study blood chemical parameters of lactating goats fed the following diets: Total Mixed Ratio (TMR), oat hay and glycerine (78:20:2, Control diet); TMR, tomato surplus silage and sunflower oil (78:20:2, TSD); TMR, olive oil byproducts silage and sunflower oil (78:20:2, OSD), for 30 days. Another study was carried out with OSD during 90 days. Differences were found on triglycerides, creatinine and urea (P<0.05); but in all cases the recorded values were within the physiological reference levels. It was concluded that these diets did not affect physiological welfare of the animals.
