Résumé

Human nature is characterized by continuous adaptation to changes; that is, the ability to deal with events produced by the combination of internal modifications (personality, cognition, among others), in contact with what happens externally. The meaning of one's own existence and personal contribution can only be discovered in relation to and for others; the development of bonds of respect and mutual support, of appreciation, of shared responsibility, of exchange of knowledge, of enjoyment of common spaces and times must be fostered. During old age, daily activities acquire special importance and should be oriented towards goals of functional efficiency; hence, we must scrutinize their design and application in advance with regard to several basic aspects such as time as an object, the valuation of the object in its functional utility, its deepening from a dynamic vision and the estimation of the process from a teleological vision. In short, a constructivist analysis supports the use of appropriate communication styles and roles to support and promote healthy aging with the inclusion of goals such as encouraging the involvement of the elderly person in the social life of their own community as well as promoting knowledge of their own environment as constant becoming.
