Résumé
With this analysis we intend to contribute to the reflection on the improvement of the EU response to the massive arrival of international protection claimants. Specifically, we focus on those aspects connected with its implementation from an economic point of view, providing elements that answer the anti-refugee (and anti-Europeanist) argument for reducing growth or employment. With this objective, we define, first, the factors that can influence the economic impact in the EU of the arrival of international protection claimants. These will be contrasted, then, with the way they are being taken into account in the current European system. Third, we will assess the potential of the EU financial instruments to correct imbalances. Finally, some proposals will point out possible economic improvements in the European management of international protection demands.
