Resum

This paper overview activities undertaken as part of the first meeting of public art: dissidence in public space, held at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas of the Universidad de Costa Rica in April 2014. This article aims to explain the motivations for organizing the event in the institutional and national context, same motives that delineated the event under the concept of dissidence. In that sense, dissidence is assumed, not only as an object of reflection on which the activities were organized, but at the same time as a framework that meets the stated objectives for local and institutional impact of the event itself. Therefore this article, as well as detailing the process of organization, grounding and embodiment of this First meeting, as well as venture some of its conclusions, seeks to demonstrate it as a hybrid analytical space between the academic experience and artistic practice in the city and its imaginary, that allows to reflect on the mechanisms and methods put on stage.
