Resum

La Disciplina Parental constituye un aspecto fundamental de las prácticas de crianza que incluye las conductas de los padres y madres dirigidas a corregir el comportamiento inadecuado del menor y a lograr su obediencia. En el presente estudio se analizó en una muestra de 1.097 estudiantes universitarios la estructura interna del Inventario de Dimensiones de Disciplina (DDI), un instrumento multidimensional diseñado para evaluar un amplio rango de estrategias disciplinarias. Los resultados obtenidos apoyan la estructura en nueve factores propuesta originalmente por los autores del DDI, agrupados en cuatro componentes de segundo orden. Para estudiar la validez convergente se examinó la relación entre los diferentes tipos de disciplina y la presencia de abuso físico en la infancia. Finalmente, se discuten las posibles aplicaciones del DDI y se concluye que es un instrumento útil para evaluar las prácticas disciplinarias empleadas por las figuras parentales.
