Zusammenfassung

This work explains to the pilgrims using the French Way of St. James on its path through Aragon, the geological characteristics of the materials they walk on. It also describes the geology of the landscape they observe. We have established 10 stops to help understand the rocks, geological units, geomorphology and geological history of the Pyrenees: (1) Somport, Permian materials from the Axial Zone of the Pyrenees; (2) Rioseta, the Carboniferous and the Cretaceous-Paleocene boun- dary, Inner Ridges; (3) Canfranc station, the last Paleozoic and deformation of Mesozoic rocks; (4) Villanúa, the Güixas cave and the Eocene karst in a megabed; (5) Aratorés lateral and frontal moraines of the Quaternary glaciations; (6) Castiello de Jaca and the Eocene flysch; (7) Jaca: fluvial geomorphology and the flysch ichnofossils; (8) Cornaraña Mountain and the Intrapirenaic Depression, the Canal de Berdún; (9) Mianos, gullies from the Upper Eocene marls and slope geomorphology; (10) Ruesta and the Eocene-Oligocene transition from marine to terrestrial paleoenvironments.
