Zusammenfassung

Polybutylenesuccinate (PBS) is an aliphatic biopolyester with a huge potential as compared to other non-biodegradable polymers. There are numerous synthetic routes to obtain this bioplastic, which determine its molecular weight and polydispersity and hence its thermomechanical and degradation properties. The preparation of different copolymers based on PBS is one of the main strategies for getting biopolyesters with improved properties, some of the most studied are prepared in combination with poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), PBS-ran-PCL. It is important to note that a recent study shows the morphology and nanostructural organization of ultrathin films obtained through combination of PBS, PCL and PBS-ran-PCL and the main results are summarized within this article. Finally, some of the main applications of PBS in the field of agriculture, biomedicine and packaging are presented
