Zusammenfassung

The aim of this study was to assess differences in the distance covered by the teams during intervals from between scoring. We analyzed 130 Liga Adelante (Spanish second division) first round matches during the 2014/2015 season. Data were obtained using the semiautomatic tracking system TRACAB®. Three independent variables were used for data comparison: match status, match location (home or away) and scoring teams (local or visitant). Dependent variables were total distance covered by the teams (sum of the distances covered by all players) and distance covered in the following ranges of intensity: <7, 7-14, 14-17, 17-21, 21-24, and >24 Km·h-1. Further, we considered the distance covered having or not ball possession, as well as game stoppages. Our main results indicated that teams’ physical performance, total distance covered, and distance covered in the different ranges of intensity, were influenced by match status, as teams that scored also run more; by match location, home teams running more than away teams; and by ball possession, as teams run more when not having the ball. These results will allow coaches to know the physical demands that teams undergo in different situations, and consequently to make decisions during matches, or to prepare their teams for these situations in trainings.
