The main objectives that north this research are: 1) To address the social, economic and cultural factors that govern the most prevailing social enterprises. The main factors are: gender, education, and the role of the cooperatives in the economic and social development of each country. 2) To analyze the factors that contemplate the two forms of management of the system of Social Economy and Solidarity Economy: in the sense of verifying possible similarities and/or differences. And; 3) To discuss the social and economic results obtained through field research carried out in two countries, Spain (Autonomous Community of Andalucia) and Brazil (in the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul), and analyzing them. The results of the research show that in relation to the number of women, all of them who were surveyed considered the cooperative as a very favorable structure for female empowerment. After the analysis of the results, it’s possible to conclude that the adopted method is adequate, once it allowed to reach the proposed objectives and that the hypothesis of this thesis is true, since the identified results demonstrated that the cooperatives are a leading instrument in the promotion of the Social Economy, and that their economic, social and cultural dynamics women’s empowerment and gender equality in both countries.
